…And hello!

I’ve been gone due to some personal issues, but I intent to come back and start posting again. I’ve been toying with adding a “Visenya Drools*” category and just post things that I would love to have or to just look at pretty things.

And in the meantime, I hope you had spent a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate it. If not, I still hope you are having a wonderful time.

*The category title is a work in progress.

Good idea…. Not!

So, for some unfathomable reason my best friend and I decided to re-watch “Sex and the City”… long story short, I had forgotten how unlikeable Carrie is. I mean, I didn’t catch the fever back in the day, but now, I just ended hating the show.

Big is another huge problem, he and Carrie are made for each other. And I don’t mean this in a flattering way, because Big is as much of pain as Carrie.

I swear I rage quitted when Carrie is struggling with her department issues after she and Aidan break up, and decides to show up at Charlotte’s apartment demanding why didn’t Charlotte offered her money (according to Carrie, she would have rejected it… but ended accepting Charlotte’s e-ring so…).

It’s ridiculous, someone please explain to me why it was cool to be a “Carrie”? Because as far as I could get, Carrie wasn’t someone you aspire to be.

On Trump

I thought long and hard on how to address this issue, and came to the conclusion that I’m still too angry to make a well spoken thought-provoking post on it; I will however will say the following:

I am glad he’s being called out for his racism and inflammatory speeches, I’m glad that he is loosing business deals. I don’t wish him any ill (as I have never and will never wish on anyone), I do hope however that when all the dust have settled, people realize that our sad reality is that no, we don’t live in a post-racial world.

No country is an utopia of perfection, but no country is hell either. It’s however a shame that people are so frightened by change and by people who don’t look like them that it gives a platform for men (and women) like Trump to stand on.

I can only hope this will open a dialogue everywhere regarding racism, discrimination and racial profiling. In the mean time, here’s Depeche Mode with People are people, whose song has never been more appropriate.

So we’re different colours
And we’re different creeds
And different people have different needs
It’s obvious you hate me
Though I’ve done nothing wrong
I’ve never even met you so what could I have done

And I am back

So, I am finally back to the murky waters of the internet. No reason for my absence but the fact that I needed time off and away from plenty of things; think of it as a vacation of sorts. Now that I have my batteries recharged, let’s make a quick review of the things I missed posting about:

Kate gave birth to a girl named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Congrats to FutureCrayon on Royal Dish for predicting Diana in the name and hilariously add “Diana 2.0 This time is personal”. Also, Charlotte Diana is the name of the Earl of Spencer’s youngest daughter.

Prince Harry was in Autralia and New Zealand, had more crowds that the Beige Couple. Yep, that’s my new nickname for the Cambridges. The Beiges.

And speaking of Harry, congratulation for being made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. Atta boy.

I quit Game of Thrones, guess why.

Kate was the photographer of the official pictures of Charlotte. Too much white.

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden married Sofia Hellqvist. Good luck to them.

Of stalking and unwanted affections

It recently began the hearing trial for Sandra Bullock’s stalker, while I was watching the news they played Sandra’s desperate and chilling 911 call. I don’t hesitate to call it chilling because it is, just hearing the fear in her voice raises bumps in your flesh. The only fortunate thing was that her son wasn’t home at the time.

For me, it also had the unfortunately case of triggering the memories of my high school stalker. I will always call him a stalker because he behaved like one; he liked me but never did asked me out. And even if he had done so, I would have said no.

Back in the day, there wasn’t much I could do about it, the guy was in my class and in my circle of friends; my male friends were far more sympathetic to my plight than my female ones (who thought was “aww he just likes you, it’s cute!). No, it’s not cute. It’s not cute when you feel trapped and are constantly looking over your back.

No, it’s not flattering either, its creepy and disturbing, because for what I could¬†understand from my stalker is that he had this weird idea of me, that wasn’t, well me. I have nothing against someone being chivalrous and offering to toss me a hand, I have a problem when someone is literally ripping my bag from me because “you look like you could use the help.”

It’s terrifying when this people cannot understand that their actions are both unwanted and, in some cases, terrifying.

Stalking is not love, it’s a twisted idea of it; an idolization of the person and not the real person. The love/admiration towards and idea/ideal/person more than the idea/ideal/person itself. Unfortunately, rarely this people understand it and in some cases, it ends in tragic consequences.

I’m glad for Sandra that she had a safe place to hide and that the person stalking her has been arrested, she has nothing but my respect and admiration for having the head to call 911 in the heat of the moment (as some people freeze) and was able to protect herself in the way she could. And I’m glad she will be at ease knowing that the man is behind bars, but I wish her strength in overcoming the emotional turmoil that no doubt this unfortunate episode has left.

And here’s hoping that you (be it fame or male) never have to experience any sort of stalking or anything alike.
