Welcome to my new category “The Dragon’s Lair” is and will be used for those pretty or interesting things that catch my eye, whether they are from royal origin or not. We’ll start right off the bat with this pretty thing:
This is a blackened steel and diamond tiara by Cartier from 1912. It’s simple and elegant for those day when you are in need of a tiara that is understated yet noteworthy.
You have to love people for who they are not who you want them to be.
I think it goes without saying that we sometimes, make the mistake of idolizing and loving people by our perception of who they are; this sometimes has the sad result that we end up feeling disappointed in who the person really is.
So, let us try to like and love with eyes wide open, to embrace the person we care for with all their flaws and strengths.
Welcome to an occasional segment called “Royal Flashback”. Today we’ll talk about Princess Beatrice’s Christening.
Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary, was christened in the Chapel Royal at Londons St. Jamess Palace, on Dec. 20, 1988. Her godparents were: Viscount Linley (her father’s cousin), The Duchess of Roxburghe (now Lady Jane Dawnay), Peter Palumbo, The Hon Mrs John Greenall and Mrs Henry Cotterell.
She was named Beatrice, after Queen Victoria’s daughter, Elizabeth after her grandmother and Mary after her great-great-grandmother and her maternal grandmother’s second name.
Princess Beatrice is 27 years old and is currently 8th on the line of succession.
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.
~Charles William Eliot.
I think it’s fair to say that we all have a book that has moved us, taught or showed us something. Books are a comfort, an escape when necessary and without a doubt, steadfast teachers and friends.
So here’s to all the books that have made an impact of any sort on your life.
So, I finally got myself off my bum and went to see the movie, liked it well enough. I liked Rey and it was nice seeing Leia as a general now. I’m looking forward seeing the next one. In the mean time, here’s a video done by Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show, which is hilarious.

Remember that just because you hit bottom doesn’t mean you have to stay there.
~Robert Downey Jr.
As someone who in the past years has weathered many storms, this quote gets me going. RDJ was at some point in his life in a very low spot, but he came back strong and this is what I intend to do.
And I hope that if you are having a bad time, that it passes quickly and may you overcome it and may you grow into a stronger person.
